There are some love stories I get invited into that linger with me long after I pack up my camera and drive home down the mountain. Ethan and Sheriden’s proposal at Roo Winery in Ellijay, Georgia is one of those stories, the kind that reminds me why I wholeheartedly cherish what I do.

When Ethan reached out through my website, he told me he’d been dating Sheriden for four years and finally felt ready to ask her to marry him. Roo Winery sits tucked in the mountains of North Georgia, and on December 6th, winter gifted us the most beautiful weather.

Ethan had gone all out. He rented the entire underground barrel room, a breathtaking space lined with aged wine barrels and glowing with warm string lights. In the center sits a long wooden table often used for rehearsal dinners, but at the far end, he created an intimate setup just for the two of them: wine poured, a charcuterie spread waiting, and fuzzy blankets draped over the chairs. I arrived two hours early to check lighting, walk the space, and make sure everything was aligned.
