A Cozy Afternoon Among the Pines

There’s something magical about photographing a family at a Christmas tree farm — the soft crunch of pine needles under your boots, the cold air that turns cheeks rosy, and that warm, quiet kind of joy that only comes with the holiday season. This year, I had the sweetest privilege of capturing the Szvetecz family; Ryan, Hannah, and their baby girl, Charlotte, for their Christmas photos, and it truly felt like stepping into a storybook.

When they arrived, bundled in cozy layers, Charlotte immediately stole the show. She has this gentle, curious way of taking in the world — wide eyes following the sway of the trees, tiny fingers wrapped around her parents’ hands. The way Ryan and Hannah looked at her the entire session felt like the heartbeat of the photoshoot. You could feel how deeply they adore her.

As we wandered through rows of evergreens, the late afternoon light settled into the trees and created the most beautiful, moody glow, the kind that makes everything feel nostalgic, like a memory you’ve already begun to treasure. We played, we explored, and we let the day unfold naturally. I love sessions like this: no pressure, no perfect posing, just honest moments of connection.

Christmas tree farm sessions always remind me of how fast time moves. Babies grow, families evolve, seasons change — but photographs hold onto the feeling of now. And this “now” for the Szvetecz family is something truly beautiful.

Ryan, Hannah, and sweet baby Charlotte, thank you for spending your afternoon with me and trusting me to capture this season of your life. I hope these photos always bring you back to the scent of pine, the crisp December (November - you need time to send those Christmas cards) air, and the love that wrapped around your little family that day.
